30

We just celebrated Charlie's 30th birthday.  (How is it that the "guy" I met on the retreat, the boyfriend who stole my heart - is 30?  And the father of my children?  And the provider for my family?  Growing up together is crazy but such a blessing!)
We started off the day with gifts a gift (online shopping went awry - most of my gifts to him arrived during "birthday week."  He was nice about it though, of course.)
Fina gifted him at breakfast with her silly face.
It was a great, relaxed morning followed by noon Mass.  Can you get any better than that?
That night, I made him a birthday dinner and we all enjoyed angel food cake - the traditional birthday cake for Charlie.  Check out all those candles!
It quickly turned into a whipped cream fight.  Fina and I didn't participate since I was holding the camera (expensive technology to the rescue!) and she was sobbing - poor sensitive little thing.  She does not like this sort of play!
After dessert, we retired to the Master Bedroom where Charlie turned the music up too loud and the children jumped on the bed (huh?!).
We did a little celebratory dancing as well.  (Who took this picture?!)
A few days later, it was time for a real party (with a few friends)!  You can't turn 30 and not have a real party!  Check out that awesome "30" cake my friend made!  The party was great fun and included lots of authentic Texas food, a chocolate fountain, and the margarita machine that is going to be my BFF this Summer.
This time we were out of candles (after the real birthday day), so one had to suffice.
His friend made him a specialty cake based off of a particular interest.  That's all I have to say about that.
Thankfully, we have a completely blank wall so that I could prominently display his entire life in pictures to all of our guests.  The girls have asked if we could keep it up, so I said yes.  That fat baby picture will be staring at us until the next party!  (The next party is less than 2 weeks away, do not fear.)

Happy, happy birthday to my wonderful husband!

Viral

Upon their return home from an adventure in Texas, Charlie and sweet Serafina are quite sick.
My medicine cabinet looks like it exploded.
So does the house, since at 18 months old, I can't convince the sweet little lady to lie down - I must hold her of course.  I don't mind holding her.  But I'm sure the rest of the family would like to live in a sanitary home and have a meal every once in a while.  Especially Gab, since she's getting sick now too.  (We'll all get it I'm sure...especially me, I always get what the kids have.)
Sure I could hold her while I cook.  I suppose everyone would not enjoy a dose of viral pink-eye in their mashed potatoes though.
As sad as I am that Charlie is sick, at least while he's laying around in a DayQuil-induced stupor, sometimes my sweet little angel will take a 5 minute break so I can prepare sick food for Gab and administer eye drops, and bust out the Lysol wipes.

I know so many people have been sick or their children.  Surely I'm not alone in my longing for Spring.  Only a few more weeks, right?  I can't wait for my little ones to be well and out running and playing in the yard!
